Foundation – How to Buy and Expand Territory

It is a necessity to expand your land at some point in Foundation. It opens up for new possibilities regarding resources and buildings. This is a how-to guide on how to buy territory in Foundation.

How to buy new territory

Time needed: 2 minutes.

It is a very simple process to expand your land in Foundation

  1. Go to the territory view

    Click on the territory button in the bottom of the screen. This allows you to see all the territory tiles. You can only see and buy tiles next to a tile that is currently owned by you.Foundation Territory Button

  2. Locate a territory you want to buy

    You should buy a territory that could unlock a new resource for you. This could be water, stone, iron and much more. If there are no resources you should look for the nearest resource and start buying your way over to that land.

  3. Buy a territory

    Now it’s time to buy the territory. The cost of a territory is 500 coins, and 50 coins per week. Click on the tile to buy the land.

When to buy a new territory

You have to be careful when you buy a new territory in Foundation. It will take a huge toll on your economy. Especially in the early stages of the game. Even if you can afford the up-front cost of 500 coins, the 50 coins per week cost will still follow you all game. You should only expand your territory when you actually need the land. Either for expansion to place more buildings, or to unlock new resources. Make sure that you have a surplus of more than 50 coins per week so you won’t go bankrupt and have to sell the land again.

How to sell territory

To sell / abandon your owned territory go into the territory screen again. Then go to the territory you want to sell. When you hover over it, the borders will have a red color. Click on it and it will ask you to confirm abandoning it. When you have confirmed it will remove the territory and all the buildings you have placed inside it.
